AFTERMATH OF HURRICANE HARVEY: WHAT’S NEXT ??

As well all know if you are watching the reports of unprecedented rain and historic unfolding in America from the hurricane Harvey which has resulted in catastrophic flooding and damage in Texas and along the gulf coast, it has lead to huge loss of property and life.

“The greatest threat to our planet is the belief that Someone else will save it.”

Robert Swan

I think Robert said that right as at the pace we are deteriorating the nature there will be many destructions ahead.

From the ages, man has played with nature and ruined it and the result what we got out of it is one of the Hurricane Harvey. The storm which intensified over the Gulf of Mexico before hitting Texas and its surrounding states bought with it heavy rains and damaging winds and a powerful storm surge.

The impact was so immediate and storm that, the storm dumped more than 24inches of rain on Houston alone over a 24 hour period. The total rainfall reaches to 50 inches in Taxes as the storm moves into Louisiana.

10 million people get affected despite being preparations made by the government, the place was evacuated and many companies come in front to help the families trapped one of the news which came as a Texas pizza hut used kayaks to bring free pizza to families.

“We packed 120 pizzas into kayaks and took them out to the people in their homes the people in the houses didn’t expect us to come it was so nice to see their smiles after so much gloom”

Said- Pizza Hut Official

Texas official said on Thursday said that they believe at least 82 people died the picture could have been bleaker, hospitals had to be evacuated as water rose into buildings that had never been flooded and many residents found themselves in-house trap situation and some of them refuse to leave the place when asked by officials as they don’t wanna leave their home.

According to a resident, there are more than 4000 deaths which are attributable to this disaster is a very small portion.

The American red cross society reported that around 5258 people spent Wednesday night in 28 shelters across the Texas coast. About 21000 households are living in 2000 hotel in 33 states according to Tony Robinson, the federal emergency management director. The red cross society has disbursed around $46.4 million to 116000 people according to Texas department of public safety.

Even now though about 3900 homes and facilities remain without power these devastating impacts are compared with other major hurricanes like Katrina and yes it is one of them and if the humans continue to manipulate the nature there will be many Hurricane Harvey in the future.

So it’s the right time for us to prevent nature of being exploited.
